What is BoSonar?
BoSonar is a SoundTouch companion and smart audio controller. It lets you play your own music collection from a media server on your network (NAS) as well as your own audio streams — on your Bose SoundTouch speakers or straight on your phone — and adjust various device settings (for example the center and surround speakers on the Soundbar 300).
Is this an official Bose app?
No. BoSonar is an independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Bose Corporation. SoundTouch is a trademark of Bose Corporation.
Which devices are supported?
BoSonar is designed for Bose SoundTouch devices and should work with all SoundTouch-compatible systems. Tested on the SoundTouch 10, 20, 30 and Portable speakers, the SoundTouch 300 Soundbar and the SoundTouch Wireless Link adapter. You can also listen directly on your phone without any speaker.
What exactly can BoSonar do with SoundTouch speakers?
Make the physical preset buttons work again and assign them (see the dedicated entry), multiroom control by drag & drop, stereo pairing of SoundTouch 10 speakers, playback of your own audio streams, access to your own music collection on the network (NAS or media server) and device-specific settings such as bass, treble, center speaker or surround speakers (e.g. on the Soundbar 300) — and more.
Do the 6 preset buttons on my speaker work again?
Yes — BoSonar makes your device's physical preset buttons work again: no phone nearby, no replacement server — it just works. You can put web streams (e.g. internet radio) as well as music from your media server (NAS) on the buttons — an album or a folder, say. Press a button and the music plays. With stereo pairs you assign both speakers' buttons individually — twelve physical buttons; plus twelve extra presets in the app.

Do I need a SoundTouch speaker?
No. You can use the built-in audio player to listen on your phone. Bluetooth and other audio routing features of your operating system to other target devices work as usual. SoundTouch speakers are optional.
Which platforms are supported?
BoSonar is available for Android, and a Windows version is in development. macOS and iOS versions may follow depending on demand.
Which languages does the app support?
English, German, French and Spanish — both the website and the Android app.
Do SoundTouch speakers still work after the cloud shutdown?
According to Bose, some features of the official Bose app go away — internet radio via TuneIn, cloud-based presets and other parts of the app. Unaffected by this, Bluetooth, AUX, AirPlay, Spotify Connect and local multiroom keep working. With BoSonar most of what the Bose app loses comes back: the physical preset buttons on the speaker, music from a media server on your own network, your own streams, and stereo pairs.
Can I listen to my own music collection with BoSonar?
Yes. BoSonar finds media servers on your local network — a NAS, or a media server running on your computer — and lets you browse them and play albums, individual tracks or whole categories and folders straight on your SoundTouch speakers. The music stays on your own network; nothing goes to a cloud. Albums can also be assigned to the preset buttons.
